Hi Everyone,
I hope you all are doing well. Wow has it been hot and dry out there. We need some rain. Please be careful with fire and other sources of ignition. Your turnout at our commission meetings has been amazing, thank you all for supporting your community. Participation is essential to the health and well-being of our city and it’s having an impact.

Memorial Day

The Memorial Day Service at the Saints and Sinners Cemetery was a beautiful tribute to our service men and women who lost their lives while serving in the United States Armes Services. Attendance was amazing. More than 80 citizens and the American Legion gathered to honor our Veterans. This was an event that Oak Hill can be proud of. Special thanks to Spence Youman and Dru Ann Welch for all their hard work making this happen.

Summer Colds are Awful

Summer seems like the worst time to catch a cold or flu, but I have somehow managed to find way. The headaches, congestion, coughing, body aches, and fever seem amplified in the incredible heat that East Central Florida has been experiencing in the last few weeks. I want to apologize for this abbreviated newsletter but functioning these last few days have been challenging to say the least.

City Charter Review

At Monday’s commission meeting, the changes to our City Charter will become closer to inclusion on the November 2024 election ballot. Click here to view the current draft and changes proposed. The commission has reviewed the changes and made a few suggestions that are included in the current draft.

Click here to view the mayor’s interesting interpretation of the charter. Click here to view what our city charter actually says. If he believes what he said is true, that’s bad. If he knows what he said is not true, we are in real trouble. Either way, it’s not good.
